Mama
Houston, we have a first word! When I picked Audrey up from Bear Boulevard today, she looked straight at me and said "mama!" Then she said it again. And she's been saying it all night and will even imitate me after I say it. She's been babbling strings of sounds for a while now but this SLP knows a true word when she hears it.
On a side note, Audrey's new favorite treat is "popsicles." The one tonight was frozen applesauce and she went to town on it.

Lions and Tigers and Bears...
This morning we made a spur of the moment decision to visit the zoo. We went early to avoid the crowds and the heat.
We were only there about 5 minutes before some creature in the trees christened our stroller. Better to have poop on the stroller than one of us.
Cruising.
Most of the animals were "sleeping in" while we were there but we did manage to see a few of them in action.
Definetely spring time at the zoo. Lots of new animal babies.
8 Months
The world's happiest baby turned 8 months old last week.
She's turning into a little girl right before our eyes.
Blue eyes squared
Mama's a dork
Here are some of her new tricks:
- She grabs her bottle from us and holds it herself.
- She can't quite pull herself up yet but she likes it when we help her get in the standing position to play.
- She's starting becoming mobile. She knows how to get on her hands and knees in the crawling position but her only gear right now is reverse. She can travel from one side of the room to the other by scooting backwards and rolling.
- She never stays where I put her when I put her down for the night in her crib. She usually scoots herself to one of the corners of her crib, lays on her tummy, and sticks her booty up in the air.
- Speaking of sleep, she's pretty much weaned herself off her pacifier. Did I mention she was the world's most perfect baby? She also puts herself to sleep at night. After her last bottle, I lay her down listening to the sound machine. She rubs her bunny's ears and drifts off to dreaming.
- The girl likes to eat! She's eating a lot of what we eat now which is making it easier. She's also learning to drink from a straw rather than a sippy cup.
- We've been doing signs with her. She hasn't signed anything back to us yet but I know she's taking it all in. What can I say, she's got a mama who is a SLP and knows way too much about language development. The other day I was hiding objects to see if she would look for them (called object permanence) and she found them all like a champ!
- I love hearing her "talk". Again, probably the curse of the SLP mama, but I smile inside when I hear her babbling a new sound. Of course, one of the most popular string of sounds is "dadadada". No "mama" yet.

Mother's Day
Here's the moment that changed my world forever.
I guess this is technically my first Mother's Day. Last Mother's Day I was about 20 weeks pregnant and we had just found out a few days before that Baby Ferg was a SHE.
Our church hosted a Tutus & Tiaras luncheon on Saturday. I think this church is The One. There is so much they have to offer for all ages.
Audrey meeting new friends.
Our little family
The one who taught me everything I know about being a Mom.
P.S. My baby is transforming into a little girl right before my eyes.

BLESSED
I am BLESSED that Audrey loves the water.

I am BLESSED that this my view when I exercise.

I am BLESSED that this little girl will eat anyting we put in front of her.

I am BLESSED that Audrey is learning how to crawl.

I am BLESSED that my girl likes ice cream just like her mama. (Nana has been waiting for months to give Audrey her first taste of ice cream. Nana's face lit up like Christmas morning when I told her she could have some)

I am BLESSED that this little 25% Mexican girl is mine. That's the flower that I wore in my hair at our wedding.

I am BLESSED that this little one enterains me by traveling across the room.

I am BLESSED that this is what my dishwasher looks like at night.
