14 Weeks

How far along: 14 Weeks

How big is baby: A Lemon. Interesting because lately I can't get enough lemon. I've been squirting lemon juice in my water and may or may not have eaten a box of lemon Girl Scout cookies this week.

Total weight gain: I'll wait and see at my next appointment.

Maternity clothes: Yes! I was watching TV last night wearing a pair of gym shorts and a tank top and noticed my belly was hanging out.

Sleep: No complaints. Trying not to sleep on my back as much but I always wake up on my back.

Best moment of the week: Not pregnancy related but got some good news at school which will hopefully make the next 2 months easier.

Food cravings: Nothing really weird this week.

Food aversions: I actually managed to eat 1/2 of breakfast taco so the egg aversion might be coming to an end. So weird that eggs make me gag now because I used to eat a boiled egg just about everyday.

Symptoms:
The lovely puking is back. Peeing when I cough or sneeze which is real attractive. Mild sciatic nerve issue. Allergies!

Movement: Any day now I'm hoping to at least feel the flutters

Gender: Still think girl but it's interesting that the only names we talk about are boy names. Really I have no idea and honestly don't have a sex preference.

What I’m looking forward to: Feeling the baby move. Still this

What I miss: Subway. It's probably fine if I have heated lunch meat occassionally but I haven't given in yet.

Next appt: April 10

Mom called to remind me that in 6 months we'll have a baby. Seems like so far away, but I remember when my wedding was 6 months away and then all of a sudden it was here. Wow!

365 Days of Wedded Bliss

We celebrated our very first wedding anniversary this week.

Here were our flowers then...

...and here is my bouquet now. I don't really know why I still have the bouquet but there it is. Hanging on its noose in Neal's "man" closet.

Here was the top of our wedding cake then...

...and here it is now after being frozen for a year. Surprisingly, it was still pretty tasty.

Here we are a year ago. I really wish I would have thought to have the waitress snap our picture when we were out celebrating. Oh well, we're cute now too!

Flowers were delivered to me on our anniversary. Again, it would have been better if I would have snapped a picture when they were fresh, but here they are almost a week later.

Here's how we spend our time these days. Instead of going out on the town like crazy kids, we stay home and read our ever-growing collection of baby books.

Here's to many, many more years of fun!

13 Weeks

Hello 2nd Trimester! Well, I've read anywhere from 12-14 weeks is considered the 2nd Tri so I think I'm close enough. It's seemed like this has gone by slow but we're already 1/3 of the way there.

How far along: 13 Weeks

How big is baby: A Peach

Total weight gain: I don't weigh at home but from my 2 doctor's appointments which were a month apart, I was down 3 lbs. Probably because not much stayed in my stomach for about 6 weeks.

Maternity clothes: In an awkward stage where my regular stuff is uncomfortable so I've been wearing maternity pants. So comfortable. Like getting away with wearing your pajamas but looking acceptable to go out in public.

Sleep: Sleeping pretty good. Get up several times in the night to pee but have no trouble falling right back asleep.

Best moment of the week: Knowing we're one more week closer.

Food cravings: Hmmm, bran muffins, Totino's pizza, croutons & 1000 Island dressing, Chick-fil-a

Food aversions: Chicken is fowl (with the exception of Chick-fil-a), eggs

Symptoms: Just when I thought the sickness was gone, it showed its ugly face yesterday. But it's not everyday like it used to be. Heartburn.

Movement: Too early to feel anything but we saw it dancing around on the ultrasound

Gender: Chinese Gender Chart says girl and all the dreams I have about baby contain a baby girl. Should know for sure sometime in May.

What I’m looking forward to: Feeling the baby move

What I miss: Nothing, still can’t really complain.

First Glimpses

So our first doctor's appointment was on February 13. I called the doctor the day after we got our positive and was told that they wouldn't schedule me until at least 7 weeks. Seemed like an eternity, but the day eventually came. Neal tagged along and got to experience firsthand what happens at the girly doctor. Hopefully he wasn't too scarred since I'm sure witnessing a Pap smear is not the worst thing that will come! They did the ultrasound and did a lot of blood work. Here's our first glimpse of the little person. So little but we got to see and hear the heartbeat. It was as amazing as everyone told me it would be.

As they were doing that first round of blood work, we signed consent for a ton of test including one for Cystic Fibrosis. About a week later, I got a phone call from the doctor that said my blood work showed that I am a carrier for a cystic fibrosis gene which meant that we needed to get Neal's blood tested ASAP to see if he had the same carrier gene. If we were both carriers, then the baby would have a 25% chance of having cystic fibrosis. So he had his blood drawn and thankfully his test came back negative so this isn't an issue for us.

We had our 2nd doctor's appointment on March 12, four weeks later. It's funny how 4 weeks can seem to drag by and fly by at the same time. Our next appointment is April 10 which seems like a long time away but I know it will be here soon.

Neal got caught up at work so my Mom ended up going to the appointment with me. I wasn't expecting to get another ultrasound but the nurse was having trouble picking up the heartbeat with the Doppler machine so I got a surprise ultrasound. There the little thing was. Its little heart flickering on the screen. It was moving its arms and legs around. Reminded me of Neal on the dance floor!

The Day Our World Changed

I'm back to the blogging world and boy do I have a story to tell.

On January 22, we got the news of a lifetime!

I took a ton of tests just to be sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. It was a Sunday afternoon. Neal was taking a nap when I took the first test and saw the 2 pink lines. I needed more confirmation, so I went to the gym, worked out, and then stopped at CVS on my way home to buy more tests. After several positives, I woke him up and blurted it out. His response, "wheeeeeeee!"

Here's a picture of my goofy husband on the night that we found out. Who knows what he's thinking!

Our estimated due date is September 28. We are beyond excited!
