26 Weeks

26 Weeks. Almost to the 3rd trimester and she's about the size of a head of lettuce. Now I know what people were talking about when they said pregnancy flies by. The beginning seemed to drag by. It seemed like forever until we had our first doctor appointment to make sure Baby was doing ok in there. The first trimester was a little nerve wracking because everyday you're thinking, Is everything ok? Now we're to the point where we're thinking about how soon this Baby will be here. My due date is about 14 weeks or 98 days away. We're going on the hospital tour and taking childbirth classes soon. A dear friend went with me to register this week. I'm grateful for her knowledge and expertise. Here's the growing bump:

No new physical symptoms. Just the usual: lots of kicking, no stretch marks (yay!), belly button still an "innie". Some of the weirdo dreams have come back. One was I was in another town (I think it was Washington DC) and started bleeding. We went to the hospital and the doctor was eating Cheetos and wouldn't help me. He gave me a rental car that had ketchup packets in the door panels. Then I had another one where Dr. McSteamy from Grey's Anatomy was doing my 3D ultrasound. I asked him is she was still a girl and he said "Nope, she grew a weiner."

Mom has been here the past few days helping get Baby Girl's room ready. I laugh inside because we're getting this perfect room together and she really won't be in there much at the beginning. She'll be in our room for a while. It's still fun. Neal painted the walls a few weeks back. We've put together the crib, a bookshelf/storage unit, and a dresser. Mom made the crib bedding which I love.

I don't think Girlfriend is going to have trouble finding something to wear. Really must stop buying clothes but they're just so darn cute.

Neal wrapped this piece of fabric around Mack last night. Doesn't he look thrilled?

25 Weeks

25 weeks and Baby Girl is about the size of a head of cauliflower. She's moving around like crazy in there. I can pretty much feel her at any point of the day now. Thankful that she still is using light taps instead of jabs.

I got word that I passed the glucose test which made me very happy to hear. Knock on wood, still no stretch marks or that linea negra thing although my belly button does appear to be darkening as it makes it way a little further out. No weirdo dreams this week.

We celebrated Neal's faux Father's Day today.

The room is slowly coming together. I made a little bow holder this week. As my mom said, "hope she has hair."

Ironman Ink

Part of the glory of completing an Ironman is getting the Ironman tattoo. I never thought Neal would want a tattoo, but if he had to get one, this is a pretty cool one to get. He's been at races before where he's spotted the "M-dot" on atheletes. Now he's joined that club.

Babymoon in Savannah

Neal had a work conference in Florida last week,so we took advantage of some of the perks and took a little Babymoon in Savannah, GA. If you ask Neal, he'll say that Savannah is the pregnant woman capital of the world. He'll say that there were pregnant girls everywhere. I think he's just more aware of pregnant women these days.

Friday we flew into Jacksonville, rented a car, and made the 1.5 hour drive up to Savannah. Since it was getting late and we weren't sure what kind of food would be available once we got to the hotel, we stopped at a Dairy Queen along the highway. It's been years since I've eaten at a DQ and I thought greasy steak fingers sounded good. The girl looked at me like I had just ordered lasagna or a bowl of cereal or something. She said, "I'm sorry ma'am. This is DQ. We don't serve steak here." Um, what? A DQ with no steak fingers is like an enchilada with no cheese. So that's how they do it in Georgia. For the record, my chicken fingers and Neal's grilled chicken sandwich were absolutely disgusting. Right when we arrived in the Savannah city limits, a police chase sped by us on the opposite side of th interstate.
We'd learn on the news later that some dude had stolen an ambulance and that's who they were chasing. It felt good to finally get to the hotel after a day of airports and car rides.

Saturday was about exploring the city and eating. The food was delicious.

My Breakfast. Hard to see but the French toast was covered in Corn Flakes.

My lunch was heaven in a dish. It was a piece of Texas Toast, a spoonful of fresh blue crab salad, a creamy Parmasean sauce, covered in bubbly cheese. My mouth is watering just thinking about this again.

We did a lot of walking. Downtown Savannah is very quaint. There's a total of 21 or 22 squares in the area so we walked a few miles down Bull St to take it all in. Old houses, cobblestone streets, huge Magnolia trees. The picture of the South.

I developed a love affair with Georgia pecan pralines. I won't say how many I ate.

Neal continued his love affair with live music and cold beer.

We rode the trolley tour to let my feet rest and learn some fun facts about the history of Savannah.

Funny story. After we had dinner on Saturday night, we walked back to the City Market to enjoy a little of the night life. We were running short on cash and the Wells Fargo was several blocks away. We stopped at a local bank instead to get cash from the ATM. Neal, beer in hand, put his card into the machine and went through the steps. The machine spit out a blank receipt, no cash, and did not return the card. Neal was a little frustrated. We called Wells Fargo to cancel the card. The next day we were having lunch and Neal came across his debit card in his wallet. We're pretty sure he put his gym card into the ATM machine since they are the same color. No wonder the machine didn't give us cash.

Sunday was overcast and rainy but we drove the 18 miles to Tybee Island anyway to see the ocean. Tybee wasn't anything spectacular. Just a typical little beach town. We did eat some good seafood for lunch and witnessed a wedding on the beach.

Since it was rainy, we decided to make an indoor plan for the evening. I found a movie theater on my phone that wasn't too far away. When we found it, it turned out to be in a very sketchy part of town. Somewhere that we really didn't want to be after dark, especially not knowing the area. So we drove back to the downtown area and decided to eat a little restaurant that we had passed several times. Turns out we couldn't find close parking so it was on to Plan C. We stumbled across an Italian restaurant in one of the old downtown buildings with a close parking spot. Turns out the food was delicious and the atmosphere was dark and cozy.

On Monday, we had breakfast at drugstore called Clary's that's who knows how old. I had the "Elvis", French toast stuffed with peanut butter and bananas. We had a little time to kill before it was time to go to the airport. We toured the Juliette Gordon Low house. She's the lady who founded the Girl Scouts.

I absolutely fell in love with Savannah and would love to go back one day.

24 Weeks

24 Weeks. Also known as Viability Day meaning that if the Little Lady decided she was ready to come into this world, there would be about a 50% chance that she would make it and the doctors would take all measures to sustain her life. Although it's a big milestone, it's still scary to think about. So listen to your Momma little lady: your timer has not gone off yet and you still have a few months left to cook!

I had a doctor's appointment this morning. Her heart is beating strong at 140 and today was the first day they've measured my belly. My doctor and I talked about things like scheduling a tour of the hospital, options for pain management during the birth, and pediatricians. It gets more real everyday. I also had to drink the Glucola to see if I'm at risk for gestational diabetes. Fingers crossed my body is doing what it's supposed to be doing. My weight and blood pressure are normal and I've only had a tiny bit of swelling. We'll know the results next week.

The crazy dreams have returned. A least they're not scary (yet), just weird. The most recent dream I had involved all my teeth falling out one by one in a bloody mess. I woke up freaked out and quickly ran my tongue along my teeth to make sure they were all there.

Neal finished painting Baby Girl's room last weekend. Now it's time to change out all the electrical fixtures and put the furniture together. I can't wait to see it all come together.

She's moving around a lot. There's one particular spot to the right of my belly button that I can pretty much be guaranteed to feel something there. Not sure itf it's an arm or a leg. Neal even got to feel a tiny little kick the other day.

Only 16 more weeks!

Dog Days of Summer

Life is really hard sometimes. Especially for our dog.

Beginning of Summer

What a busy weekend this has been. We started the summer on Friday night by having dinner with Neal's triathalon team at The Yard House. I think we stayed out to a whopping 11:00!

Saturday morning Project Clean the House and Project Start the Baby Room began. Neal moved the rest of the furniture out of Baby Girl's room, I taped the room off, and then he put the first coat of paint on the walls. The fumes were stronger than I thought they would be so I stayed out until he was done. It's a shame too because I really like to paint. I spontaneously repainted our living room last summer one week that Neal was out of town. The second coat is going on the walls today. Next step is to get the furniture put together.

This morning we went to Memorial Park to go get a little exercise before it go too hot. I have this strange awareness of strollers now so every time a stroller would pass it, I'd check it out to see what kind it was. Seems like the BOB is the jogging stroller of choice for runners.

This morning also marked our return to church. We haven't gone the past couple of months since Neal was training for the Ironman all weekend, every weekend. It felt good to be back.

Other good news is that we've found tenants for our condo. Our current tenant is moving out at the end of the month. It's a relief to know that we a have a young couple secured to move in at the beginning of July. And they're paying almost $400 a month than our current tenant is paying.

We've got a busy week planned. Mack's going to the vet and getting a haircut. I have to see a few private practice kids and go to the doctor on Thursday. We're also leaving Friday for Savannah to get out of town for a few days.
