18 Weeks

How far along: 18 Weeks

How big is baby: Sweet Potato. I told Neal this on Friday morning and he said, "oooh, sweet potato fries sound good."

Total weight gain: So far, so good.

Sleep: There's this ridiculous body pillow called the Snoogle that I'm trying to avoid buying. I've been getting leg cramps and wake up with sore hips and knees. Now I'm sleeping with a grand total of 4 pillows positioned in various areas of my body. I think I have it figured out.

Best moment of the week: A little girl at school told me "Gee, you're looking a bit pregnant today." The kids at schools (mostly the girls) are obssesed with this baby. They're constantly coming by my room telling me if they think it's a boy or a girl. For some reason I don't mind them touching my belly either. It's cute to hear them talk to the baby. I also got to visit with new baby Sultenfuss this week. It was neat getting to hold a newborn.

Food cravings: Chick-fil-a lemonade. I've been wanting a sno-cone too.

Food aversions: All good here.

Symptoms: Leg cramps, itchy belly. On days I can take a nap after school, I'm much better person to be around.

Movement: Lots of flutters and one swift kick.

Gender: Thinking girl again. I think not knowing is messing with my head.

What I’m looking forward to: Getting the baby room ready. I've changed my mind a lot but I'm really stuck on Eric Carle now. Bright colors that would work for either a boy or a girl. Dreams: The pregnancy dreams have been crazy! I thought wedding dreams were bizarre, but these are in a different class. Lately, I've dreamt that Mack was eaten by a goat in our house, then I was feeding the baby except the baby had Mack's head. The most recent one is that I spent the summer in Seattle because it was so hot in Houston.

17 Weeks

How far along: 17 Weeks

How big is baby: Onion. Our baby has layers!

Total weight gain: No idea. I feel good so I'm not worried about it. I do think my feet are growing though. Just when I thought my Flinstone feet (thanks Heiner side of the family) couldn't get any fatter, they did.

Maternity clothes: For someone who hates shopping and does it out of necessity, I've actually enjoyed buying new clothes.

Sleep: Trying not to sleep on my back. It's harder to do that than I thought. I get uncomfortable on my side.

Best moment of the week: Um, nothing too exciting this week. Just growing a human. I've been feeling so good lately sometimes I forget I'm pregnant. Until I look down and see a bump and fat feet.

Food cravings: I've had to give up the spicy foods. The old wives tale says that heartburn means the baby will have a head full of hair. We'll see.

Food aversions: No food aversions. Sometimes the trash will make me gag but my freak sense of smell has pretty much left the building.

Symptoms: Peeing when I cough, laugh, or sneeze. Nice!

Movement: I swore I felt a kick the other day. I haven't felt it since so that might have been my imagination.

Gender: A couple more weeks before we know. I really have no idea now. We were sure a friend of mine was having a boy and she found out it's a girl. There's a big girl streak going on in my circle of friends. I can picture us with both a boy and a girl. I just want to know!

What I’m looking forward to: Is it a "he" or a "she"? And to think that I didn't want to know the sex when I first found out I was pregnant. What was I thinking? Of course, I want to know!

What I miss: Still nothing

MS150

Neal is in full fledge Ironman training. This weekend he rode in the MS150 bike ride from Houston to Austin. I once again was the good wife and provided transportation along the way. Let's see. Houston to LaGrange to Houston to LaGrange to Austin to Houston. Add that to the Corpus trip last weekend and I'm officially tired of being in the truck. Day 1 started out chilly willy.

Off to LaGrange with the beautiful sunrise.

On Day 2, I drove back to LaGrange and saw Neal off again with a beautiful sunrise. Then proceeded to eat one of the best kolaches of my life at this bakery.

Stopped off in Smithville on the way to Austin because A)I had time to kill and B)I wanted to find the house from Hope Floats. No luck but I didn't try very hard.

All smiles before heading to Austin.

The finish line in Austin. It's pretty amazing to see these riders riding into downtown after being on their bikes for 2 days.

This Just Got Real

So last Friday night, we went to the Omni to pick up Neal's MS150 packet. Then we went to the APPLE store to buy new iPhones and ate at Chick-fil-A. Then off to Babies R Us to play with strollers. So many choices but I think we've narrowed it down. Here's Neal checking out a contender.

Today our crib arrived. This just got real. Mom graciously bought the little guy/girl a place to sleep. We probably won't assemble it for a while, but needed to make sure none of the parts were damaged.

We've also started looking at day cares for when I eventually have to go back to work. Seems weird to be making decisions this early, but we already had to put our name on a wait list for our top pick. Like I said, it's getting real.

Bye bye tree

Today we had a tree in our backyard cut down. The poor pine tree didn't survive the drought from last summer. We're actually pretty blessed that we only lost 1 tree. Some of our neighbors lost every single tree in their yards.

15/16 Weeks

I'm cheating and combining two weeks in one. We had our monthly doctor appointment on Tuesday. No ultrasound but she picked up the heartbeat with the Doppler immediately. Our next appointment is the big one: the anatomy scan! At first this pregnancy was going by so slow, but now we're almost to the halfway point.

How far along: 15/16 Weeks

How big is baby: Last week a navel orange. This week an avocado.

Total weight gain: I snuck a peek while the nurse was weighing me and it looked like I was up a pound or two. I'm trying not to worry about the number. The doctor said she was pleased with my rate of weight gain so I'll go with that.

Maternity clothes: I have a new dilemma. My workout pants are starting to fit funny. I don't even know if they make maternity workout clothes. I just wear them under the belly now instead of on my waist and make sure my shirt is long enough in case it starts to peek out.

Sleep: Getting up a few times at night to pee but can usually fall right back asleep.

Best moment of the week: Feeling a little flutter. It feels like something rolling under my skin. Over the weekend, she/he did it 4 times in a row while I was riding in the truck.

Food cravings: Spicy food, although I'm starting to think the heartburn after eating spicy foods isn't worth it anymore.

Food aversions: A dirty pot made me gag this week, but no food aversion.

Symptoms: Feeling pretty good lately.

Movement: Starting to recognize the flutters

Gender: We'll hopefully know May 10 if the little dear cooperates and gives us the money shot. As much as I thought girl from the beginning, I'm seriously second guessing myself now.

What I’m looking forward to: Ordering baby furniture. I think we have it narrowed down and are almost ready to take the plunge and order it. We moved the bed out of the middle bedroom last weekend so the room is now an empty palette.

What I miss: Nothing really

Here are a few pictures. I look tired. This one is from Easter closer to 15 weeks.

This one is from today closer to 16 weeks (officially 16 on Friday).
