The Little Lady

It's a girl! We finally know who it is inside of there. Although I have had some days when I thought boy, I thought girl right when we found out we were pregnant. The little lady has her Daddy's dance moves and was doing somersaults on the screen. She started out laying on her back and then went to town. All with a foot over her lady parts. The tech was having a hard time getting a good shot of between the legs. She would measure an important part and then go back to try to get it. Nope, little lady wouldn't move that foot. Finally at the end, she had me roll over on my side and then Bam, she showed us the goods.

My OB office doesn't have the best ultrasound machine so the pictures aren't that great. She also gave us a DVD in which the body parts are clearer than on the stills. And you can see that little beating heart.

Her profile.

A foot. All toes accounted for.

The money shot. No outdoor plumbing there.

After I got home, I was talking to my mom (who I've only talked to about 500 times today) and she told me to go into the spare bedroom. When she was here last weekend, she played the sneaky card and hid a package for me to open today if it was a girl. I was surprised to find several of my baby dresses with little notes on them about who they were from.

From Paw-Paw Russ & Saundra

From Aunt June

I didn't even really know that Mom had kept these but I guess why wouldn't she. They're in tip-top condition. Can't wait to put Baby Girl in the dresses that I wore when I was a baby.

Holy cow, we're having a Baby Girl!

Will It Be a He or a She?

OMG! I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve! Tomorrow is the Anatomy Scan and hopefully Baby shows us the goods. For my final guess, I'm going with Girl which means it's probably Boy. At the end of the day, I would be thrilled with either. A 4th grade boy at school today told me that he really hopes it's a boy because "girls are crazy!" As thankful as I am to have the summer off, I'm going to miss these little guys and their commentaries on the Baby. They're going to be shocked when I return in August with a huge belly. One little girl sees me every morning and says "Good Morning Mrs. Ferguson" and then rubs my belly and says "Good Morning Baby." Too cute!

Mango

We're at 19 weeks and Baby is the size of a Mango.

-This week is the big appointment where we can hopefully find out if it's a he or a she. I'm back to having girl hunches like I did from the beginning. We shall see on Thursday. Whoever it is, the little bit has already inherited Neal's dance moves. It's like little dance party going on in there. I love feeling the consistent movements. I can't feel anything from the outside yet, just the pokes from the inside.

Let's see. We ordered a dresser and a glider this week so I think we're good on the baby furniture. Now to decide what color to paint the room. I'm 99.9% sure it's going to be an ABC/reading room with the brightly colored Eric Carle pictures. Something that would be fine for a girl or a boy and could be used with Kid #2 if the sexes happen to be different. I also found a car seat base at Target for 50% off. The carseat we're getting comes with one base, but it will be nice to have an extra in Neal's truck.

I'm sleeping a lot better this week. Well, I haven't been in pain like before but the dreams are still there. Luckily, I'm finally having normal baby dreams and a few funny ones. Hopefully the scary ones are a thing of the past.

My feet are defintely swelling and I had to buy bigger bras this past weekend. I also bought a bathing suit to take on our trip this summer. I'm dying to buy baby clothes. Soon!

Mom brought Neal a bag full of presents, but who are we kidding? It's not about us anymore and the bag was actually for Lil Bit. Fun all the same!

18 Weeks

How far along: 18 Weeks

How big is baby: Sweet Potato. I told Neal this on Friday morning and he said, "oooh, sweet potato fries sound good."

Total weight gain: So far, so good.

Sleep: There's this ridiculous body pillow called the Snoogle that I'm trying to avoid buying. I've been getting leg cramps and wake up with sore hips and knees. Now I'm sleeping with a grand total of 4 pillows positioned in various areas of my body. I think I have it figured out.

Best moment of the week: A little girl at school told me "Gee, you're looking a bit pregnant today." The kids at schools (mostly the girls) are obssesed with this baby. They're constantly coming by my room telling me if they think it's a boy or a girl. For some reason I don't mind them touching my belly either. It's cute to hear them talk to the baby. I also got to visit with new baby Sultenfuss this week. It was neat getting to hold a newborn.

Food cravings: Chick-fil-a lemonade. I've been wanting a sno-cone too.

Food aversions: All good here.

Symptoms: Leg cramps, itchy belly. On days I can take a nap after school, I'm much better person to be around.

Movement: Lots of flutters and one swift kick.

Gender: Thinking girl again. I think not knowing is messing with my head.

What I’m looking forward to: Getting the baby room ready. I've changed my mind a lot but I'm really stuck on Eric Carle now. Bright colors that would work for either a boy or a girl. Dreams: The pregnancy dreams have been crazy! I thought wedding dreams were bizarre, but these are in a different class. Lately, I've dreamt that Mack was eaten by a goat in our house, then I was feeding the baby except the baby had Mack's head. The most recent one is that I spent the summer in Seattle because it was so hot in Houston.

17 Weeks

How far along: 17 Weeks

How big is baby: Onion. Our baby has layers!

Total weight gain: No idea. I feel good so I'm not worried about it. I do think my feet are growing though. Just when I thought my Flinstone feet (thanks Heiner side of the family) couldn't get any fatter, they did.

Maternity clothes: For someone who hates shopping and does it out of necessity, I've actually enjoyed buying new clothes.

Sleep: Trying not to sleep on my back. It's harder to do that than I thought. I get uncomfortable on my side.

Best moment of the week: Um, nothing too exciting this week. Just growing a human. I've been feeling so good lately sometimes I forget I'm pregnant. Until I look down and see a bump and fat feet.

Food cravings: I've had to give up the spicy foods. The old wives tale says that heartburn means the baby will have a head full of hair. We'll see.

Food aversions: No food aversions. Sometimes the trash will make me gag but my freak sense of smell has pretty much left the building.

Symptoms: Peeing when I cough, laugh, or sneeze. Nice!

Movement: I swore I felt a kick the other day. I haven't felt it since so that might have been my imagination.

Gender: A couple more weeks before we know. I really have no idea now. We were sure a friend of mine was having a boy and she found out it's a girl. There's a big girl streak going on in my circle of friends. I can picture us with both a boy and a girl. I just want to know!

What I’m looking forward to: Is it a "he" or a "she"? And to think that I didn't want to know the sex when I first found out I was pregnant. What was I thinking? Of course, I want to know!

What I miss: Still nothing

MS150

Neal is in full fledge Ironman training. This weekend he rode in the MS150 bike ride from Houston to Austin. I once again was the good wife and provided transportation along the way. Let's see. Houston to LaGrange to Houston to LaGrange to Austin to Houston. Add that to the Corpus trip last weekend and I'm officially tired of being in the truck. Day 1 started out chilly willy.

Off to LaGrange with the beautiful sunrise.

On Day 2, I drove back to LaGrange and saw Neal off again with a beautiful sunrise. Then proceeded to eat one of the best kolaches of my life at this bakery.

Stopped off in Smithville on the way to Austin because A)I had time to kill and B)I wanted to find the house from Hope Floats. No luck but I didn't try very hard.

All smiles before heading to Austin.

The finish line in Austin. It's pretty amazing to see these riders riding into downtown after being on their bikes for 2 days.

This Just Got Real

So last Friday night, we went to the Omni to pick up Neal's MS150 packet. Then we went to the APPLE store to buy new iPhones and ate at Chick-fil-A. Then off to Babies R Us to play with strollers. So many choices but I think we've narrowed it down. Here's Neal checking out a contender.

Today our crib arrived. This just got real. Mom graciously bought the little guy/girl a place to sleep. We probably won't assemble it for a while, but needed to make sure none of the parts were damaged.

We've also started looking at day cares for when I eventually have to go back to work. Seems weird to be making decisions this early, but we already had to put our name on a wait list for our top pick. Like I said, it's getting real.
